NBA Attempting to Ruin Game 7 Saturday, Suspends Z-BO For No Reason

SportsNetwork.com - Not only will the Memphis Grizzlies have to enter one of the NBA's toughest venues for a do-or-die Game 7 on Saturday, but they'll be doing so without their leading scorer and rebounder. The league handed All-Star forward Zach Randolph a one-game suspension for throwing a punch to Oklahoma City's Steven Adams during Thursday's Game 6 of the Grizzlies' Western Conference quarterfinal series against the Thunder. Randolph struck Adams in the jaw with his right hand as the two players were running down the court following a Memphis basket in the fourth quarter. The Thunder rolled to a 104-84 victory in Game 6 to even the series at 3-3 and set up Saturday's matchup in Oklahoma City. Randolph was a factor in each of Memphis' three previous wins, scoring a team- best 25 points in Monday's Game 5 and posting double-doubles in the Grizzlies' other two triumphs, both of which came in overtime. The 32-year-old has averaged 18.2 points and 8.7 rebounds in the series. During the regular season, Randolph averaged 17.4 points and ranked ninth in the league in rebounding at 10.1 boards per game.

I usually don't buy into NBA conspiracy theories but I can't ignore this situation. Zach Randolph is suspended for tonight's game 7 match-up vs OKC for "punching" Steven Adams late in game 6. The only problem is, Z-BO didn't punch him and it's a real shame that the NBA would stoop this low. Memphis has been battling their asses off this series and then Adam Silver goes and suspends their best player before the biggest game of the season.

I'm sick of players like Steven Adams getting away with this kind of bullshit. His skills are so inferior to players like Zach Randolph so the only way he can make an impact on the game is to try to get under their skin. The situation that happened Thursday night is a clear example, just getting in Randolph's way for no reason and for far too long when players are simply running back down the court. This is the kind of shit that soccer pussies do - act like a childish asshole and as soon as the other player reacts, they go into disbelief mode and look around like "wow, what did I even do?" fuck yourself Steven Adams.

And I already know what everybody's argument is for why Z-BO should be suspended - they'll say that he should have more self control, that he can't react that way - especially in the playoffs. That line of thinking is for people who should never been involved in sports. Memphis has a chance to take out arguably the best team in the NBA in the first round. They were huge underdogs coming into this series, emotions are high, and Zach Randolph is as competitive an athlete as there is. These kinds of things happen in the heat of the moment in competition - he pushed the guy out of his way for fucks sake. As far as I'm concerned, as long as he doesn't beat the shit out of him, this kind of incident is fair game.

The best part of all of this is that it was a non-story when it happened, and all day Friday until the NBA dropped the suspension early evening. Z-BO wasn't ejected, he wasn't even given a technical when the incident occurred. Last night on NBA pregame, Bill Simmons stated that he didn't even know anything had happened until the NBA suspended Randolph. Nothing happened that was deserving of a suspension, which is why I believe this is an obvious attempt to get NBA golden child and frail ass Kevin Durant to the next round.

PS - How soft is the NBA now, huh? Some old racist says racist words, everyone loses their shit. A newspaper publishes words, that were mostly true mind you, calling out Kevin Durant, everyone loses their shit. Nene and Zach Randolph get in very, very minor scuffles in the heat of the moment - SUSPENDED. It's so absurd I don't know if they are trolling us or not.
